![]() After an extended winter break we are resuming training in readiness for lots of baseball in 2022. From this week (Feb 20th) , we'll hopefully be active in either training or in games, all the way through to September, so if you are thinking about getting involved then we've got plenty of baseball for you. The regular season will start in April and we'd love to have support at our home games. So feel free to get in contact if you want to link up with the club and let's get ready for the club's 38th competitive year of baseball in the UK.
We'd like to thank our sponsors OGC for their fantastic support throughout the 2021 season. When it comes to local sport being supported by local business, it gets no better than this. OGC enables the club to thrive and continue to grow, which is something that helps the club give even more opportunity to people in the local community to get involved. Thanks OGC, we're looking forward to having you on the sidelines during the 2022 season.
After a brief run of sessions during the much disrupted 2020, the rising stars of the Junior Bladerunners are back from this Sunday at Forge Valley, for a summer of fun filled baseball.
All sessions are open for new families to join in, sessions will be at 10am until 11am and all equipment will be provided. Any player aged under 14 (boys and girls) can join, as 14 and over can train with our adult coachin sessions, and the at the other end of the scale the youngest is 5 (parental supervision would be appreciated for the younger age players) So, come along on Sunday or contact us for more details. Junior Bladerunners are back for 2021 ! After 3 weeks of fierce competition between 4 all Bladerunner teams, its now time to update the squads and prepare for an 18 game regular season with other clubs across the north of England.
The Victorious Golden Sombreros will now split and some will head to the AA squad, while others will join one of the 3 Single A teams. Sunday the 6th June sees Team I stay home to host the Durham Spartans, while Team III head to Manchester and Team IV head the opposite direction, to Hull. Team II get another week of sunbathing until they start on the 13th. Home games have first pitch at 1pm and any spectators are reminded to adhere to all current social distancing rules and regs and are advised to bring a portable chair and pick their favourite area to view from on our raised viewing area. So, let battle commence (part II) and lets see which teams come out on top in their respective divisions. May 9th sees baseball games return to Forge Field in 2021. On the back of some truly amazing numbers at midweek training, the club will break into 4 evenly matched teams, to compete on the club's very own Spring League.
Each week, all 4 teams will take to the field to get bragging rights over the other teams. After 3 weeks of battle, a winner will be crowned and then the players will take a week off before regrouping for the BBL Northern League season on June 6th. If you wish to come to watch us, drop us a message so we can update you on the Covid protocol at our venue and anything other info we need to pass along. First pitch each week will be 1pm and 4pm What are the team names? good question - well, you get to root for one of the following, so pick your favourite, we've got The Golden Sombreros The Checked Swing Dingers The Frozen Ropes The Bat Flip Bunters Who do you think will come out on top? 'Freshly hatched' on Easter Sunday, are this summer fixtures for all the 4 Sheffield Bladerunner teams in 2021.
Head over to the '2021 Season' and click on your favourite team, to see when to catch all the action. Lots of baseball to played at Forge Field this summer and if you can't make it, the club will be keeping you up to date across all its social media platforms, as well as right here. Let's play some baseball. We're proud to announce that due to another successful offseason of interest in the club, we are able to expand further and offer local players a 4th Bladerunners team.
This move follows on the back of the introduction of Team II and III over the past couple of seasons and truly makes the Sheffield Bladerunners a hub for baseball in the UK. Team IV will be represented by our orange colour scheme, as a tip of the cap to the players of the past who you'll see sporting the orange undershirts etc during the 2000's, so it was felt right to formally bring back a blast from the past and also add some welcome colour to the club. 2021 so got a whole lot brighter and hopefully a lot of safe baseball will be played throughout the summer. This expansion a great representation of the spirit and attitude of all at the club, to welcome new members, develop each other and provide an all inclusive, positive environment, that is a place where anyone can join and enjoy learning/playing baseball right here in the north of England. #Baseball4all It's March, usually that means moving from indoor training to the main field, playing pre season games and getting ready for a summer of baseball.
2021 may still have a few creases in its best laid out plan, but the Sheffield Bladerunners are well under way getting ready for the green light to get back out there. The club will yet again be starting the year with many new faces across its multiple teams, eager to get playing and having fun. If you'd like to join them, then now is the time to get in touch and be involved in an exciting summer ahead. No experience necessary and all equipment provided. We are a co-ed club with no barriers to playing, so what's stopping you. 2021 is going to be a year to live for the moment and try new things, make baseball one of them. We sincerely hope you had a happy and positive time seeing the new year in. The arrival of 2021 means that Sheffield Bladerunners baseball is just around the corner, from pre-sesaon training, to playing this Spring/ Summer/ Autumn then more off season training and the return of our Hot Stove competition.
2021 is already shaping up to be another positive year for the club and more exciting news and developments will be revealed over the coming months. It may be the start of January but now is time to get in contact and 'touch base' so we can get you involved throughout the year. We look forward to hearing from you. |
