'Freshly hatched' on Easter Sunday, are this summer fixtures for all the 4 Sheffield Bladerunner teams in 2021.
Head over to the '2021 Season' and click on your favourite team, to see when to catch all the action. Lots of baseball to played at Forge Field this summer and if you can't make it, the club will be keeping you up to date across all its social media platforms, as well as right here. Let's play some baseball. We're proud to announce that due to another successful offseason of interest in the club, we are able to expand further and offer local players a 4th Bladerunners team.
This move follows on the back of the introduction of Team II and III over the past couple of seasons and truly makes the Sheffield Bladerunners a hub for baseball in the UK. Team IV will be represented by our orange colour scheme, as a tip of the cap to the players of the past who you'll see sporting the orange undershirts etc during the 2000's, so it was felt right to formally bring back a blast from the past and also add some welcome colour to the club. 2021 so got a whole lot brighter and hopefully a lot of safe baseball will be played throughout the summer. This expansion a great representation of the spirit and attitude of all at the club, to welcome new members, develop each other and provide an all inclusive, positive environment, that is a place where anyone can join and enjoy learning/playing baseball right here in the north of England. #Baseball4all It's March, usually that means moving from indoor training to the main field, playing pre season games and getting ready for a summer of baseball.
2021 may still have a few creases in its best laid out plan, but the Sheffield Bladerunners are well under way getting ready for the green light to get back out there. The club will yet again be starting the year with many new faces across its multiple teams, eager to get playing and having fun. If you'd like to join them, then now is the time to get in touch and be involved in an exciting summer ahead. No experience necessary and all equipment provided. We are a co-ed club with no barriers to playing, so what's stopping you. 2021 is going to be a year to live for the moment and try new things, make baseball one of them. We sincerely hope you had a happy and positive time seeing the new year in. The arrival of 2021 means that Sheffield Bladerunners baseball is just around the corner, from pre-sesaon training, to playing this Spring/ Summer/ Autumn then more off season training and the return of our Hot Stove competition.
2021 is already shaping up to be another positive year for the club and more exciting news and developments will be revealed over the coming months. It may be the start of January but now is time to get in contact and 'touch base' so we can get you involved throughout the year. We look forward to hearing from you. From everyone at the Sheffield Bladerunners, we'd like to wish you and your families a safe and a fantastic Christmas, wherever you are.
We'll be back in action in 2021 and if you'd like to be involved, why not end a tough 2020 with a great positive decision and be involved with our club in the new year and beyond. Thanks to everyone for your support throughout this and every year - it is truly appreciated. Well 2020 has proved to be an interesting one for sure! The Bladerunners have been amazingly fortunate. We trained indoors all Jan/Feb/March before lockdown 1, then trained in multiple groups of 6 at various locations in June and July, then had an 8 week season of tripleheaders in August and Setember. Along came lockdown 2, but 2020 is not over yet, SO we're not done yet. We're training outdoors on Sunday 13th between 12pm and 2pm on the outdoor Astro/3G surface at Forge Valley School.
The focus of this session is NEW PLAYERS!!! - so get in touch and join us/give it a try. Contact us for more info via our contact form or directly at [email protected] Everyone is welcome, we are a co-ed club that welcomes everyone, regardless of experience or any sports background - so why not give it a go? Sunday 20th September sees the Sheffield Bladerunners set yet another first. After the success of the league, it's time for the Playoff finals, with a winner takes all day of baseball, battled over by all three teams.
The final will be streamed on Facebook from around 3.30pm or check back here to find out all the details on what happened on the day and who came out on top After 6 back to back weeks of doubleheaders, the league title came down to the wire, with a winner takes all game to decide who would be crowned 2020 Sheffield Bladerunners league champion between the I's and the II's.
Streamed live on facebook, the pressure was on to perform and both teams came out firing, putting up a combined 23 runs in a game worthy of the title on the line. Tied at 7-7 after 2 innings, the I's then pulled away to 12-7 and never looked back to secure the title with an 8-4 record. (II's 6-6, III's 4-8) With the league title in the bag, they'll now look to secure the playoff title too, in this weeks playoff shoot out. The league title secured the I's a bye, so they'll have the advantage of being fresh for the final. 2020 has been a testing year for everyone, but the Sheffield Bladerunners have proved that with planning, dedication and an amazing club spirit anything is possible and this condensed last minute Sheffield based league has proved a massive success, with around 60 players taking part in a covid safe environment. Congratulations to all the members of the team I squad (and their coaches - Chris Pender, Miguel Juarez and Paul Grime) on securing the first ever baseball league title to have been played in Sheffield. Everyone connected to the sport, hopes this is the first of many such leagues to take place. |
