WEEK 1- ​

'OFF TO A HOT START, AS THE TEAM I BATS COME OUT FIRING, ON THE BACK OF A NO HITTER'

Game Summary -
​After a historic first pitch to start the Bladerunners first ever league, Jack Lockwood went on to shut down a sleepy team II in game 1's early start. 
Team I fielded a relatively experienced line up, helping them power to an early lead and never look back. 
Solid hits throughout the line up showed no weaknesses to expose and it was only a walk that manufactured a run that ended the chance of a shut out.

'ROUNDING OFF THE PERFECT DAY, MORE RUNS, MORE HITS AND ANOTHER WIN'

Game Summary -
​After a lengthy break between games one and three, team I fired up and got back to hitting, putting up another 15 runs, but not without a battle all the way from team III.  
Chris Pender starting in game 2, lit it up with 4 runs, while steady pitching from Paul Grime, supported by solid defence, secured the win and complete and great day to start the season.

'LATE DRAMA AS TEAM I COME STORMING BACK TO TAKE THE WALK OFF WIN'

Game Summary -
Fresh off a no hitter Lockwood stepped up to repeat his success, but quickly found out today would be more of a battle. Hits in the first innings set the tone and it was a great battle right to the end, with the Team I bats saving the day, in conditions less than ideal for any pitcher. 
Heading into the bottom of the last inning, trailing by 3 runs, the rally was on! 4 runs later, the walk off was complete and the streak carried on 3-0

'SOLID PITCHING AND TOUGH FIELD CONDITIONS, LEAD TO ANOTHER WIN TO STAY UNBEATEN'

Game Summary -
Coming off a hard fought win, spirits were high. 'Sully' took to a wet mound and battled through on a shortened stride to still shut down the bats of team II, before resting and handing over the ball to Grime to close out the shut out win, which was padded out from 4-0 to 9-0 in the final inning.  Still unbeaten at 4-0 team I head to week 4 feeling great.

Game Summary -
In game 1 of the day Team I took an early lead against team III with some great hitting before Team III pulled it back with some fantastic defence to allow just 3 runs to score after the first innings. However the Team III bats woke up too late in the game and Team I took the W winning 8-4.
​Special mention to Chris Pender for a great home run.

Game Summary -
Fresh off win number 5, team I headed into the lunchtime game, riding high.  On the mound for this game was 'Sully' coming off a dominant display the previous week. 
Sharing the mound was team II's Jonny Allison, and battle commenced. Going blow for blow the bats were silenced on both sides. Going down to the wire and with P. Grime taking over the mound, time simply ran out and Team II came away with a hard fought win.

Game Summary -
On a bright Sunday morning, team I looked to great off to a winning start. They did not factor on a dominant pitching performance from Maj Hussain and some great fielding that denied a string of good contact for the home team bats. 
As the innings ticked on, there was just no easy runs to take and a gracious defeat was all that was on offer, after a great game of baseball.

Game Summary -
Hungry to end a 2 game skid, the start of the game, saw Team III focus on development and this led to an early welcome lead via walks, but once things settled down the game became a lot more equal and despite maintaining the 5 run lead, it went all the way and only time running out prevented a potential banana skin.  Win 6 was in the books to maintain the league lead.

Game Summary -
On face value, seeing a new pitcher on the lineup sheet, should lead to good things, but today was not that day and nothing came easy.  Behind the pitching of Paul Grime, the I's went blow for blow all game against a stellar outing from AK Kelly.  
Experience shone through at the end to work the winning run and put up win number 7 on the season.

Game Summary -
Still getting over the narrow victory earlier, it was back to business, but not for the first time, they found themselves behind as the clock ticked by. 
'Sully' led the way with a quality display of batting, and despite getting men on base a cruel double play left them with to much to do with only one out left and despite scoring 3 runs,  it was followed by the 'L' ending the day 1-1.

Game Summary -
Team III took advantage of rookie pitching and a couple of errors to jump into a big lead in 1st Inning with Robbie Alletson making his pitching debut for the club. Team 1 chipped away at the lead in the 2nd, but Team III extended lead against relief pitcher Scott Lingrell (also making his pitching debut) thanks to 2RBI Single from Rob Barnes just to make sure of the win. Team III pitched a scoreless final inning to end any potential chance at a comeback for Team I.⠀

Game Summary -
With the league title on the line this was always going to be a tense affair. A nervy start from Team II in the field meant Team I got off to an early 5-0 lead. Team II soon got over the nerves and pulled the game back to 7-7 with some nice hitting. However it was costly errors in one innings that lead to Team I taking the lead again and the damage was done for Team II. Team I then came out and finished with a 3 up 3 down innings to close the game and take the crown of Sheffield Bladerunners 2020 Baseball League champions.
