Handing debuts to several new players, team II were lit up early with a combination of solid hitting and a few errors. Despite being behind from early in the game, they played to the end, despite struggling to get to grips with a quality pitching outing from team I. The II's started Oli Horder in his debut for the club and many people were saying the scoreline, did not reflect how well he pitched. Batting wise it took Maj Hussain to draw the walk and convert it into the only run to get the 0 off the board. Plenty more games to make this one count for nothing. |

Jumping out to an early lead, a win was on the cards for the II's, but it sadly slipped away towards the end, as team III came back with a rally to take the W. The bats woke up for this game and 5 players crossed the plate, only stalling towards the end of the game, due to string of pop fly outs. Great use of the squad with the bench all used, which should serve well to get everyone game time after week one. |

After a long wet break between games, the II's took the field against the unbeaten I's, fresh off as hard earned win. Cold muscles and worsening weather, didn't spell a good recipe for success. Add to that the I's rolled out 'Sully' to open the pitching and the II's never got going. Unable to get hits, when the II's did get on base they were aggressive with the baserunning but just couldn't convert them into runs. Losing catcher Osman to a thigh strain, summed up a tough game and the II's took the loss to end a wet afternoon. |

Looking to put Team I in their place, an early lead was all the pitching of Maj Hussain needed. Backed by some solid glove work a classic game of baseball took place and a great win was recorded by Team II, with some great performances throughout the lineup, with Allison lighting it up on the bases. Allowing only 3 hits, Hussain proved to be the star pitcher he is becoming, and alongside Allison providing a great 1,2 punch. |

With the league title on the line this was always going to be a tense affair. A nervy start from Team II in the field meant Team I got off to an early 5-0 lead. Team II soon got over the nerves and pulled the game back to 7-7 with some nice hitting. However it was costly errors in one innings that lead to Team I taking the lead again and the damage was done for Team II. Team I then came out and finished with a 3 up 3 down innings to close the game and take the crown of Sheffield Bladerunners 2020 Baseball League champions. |

The final game of the day was a slightly experimental affair with nothing on the line for either team. Team II gave rookie pitcher Zak Berisford his first start on the mound. A series of errors and walks helped Team III take a big lead in the first innings. Zak led Team II’s recovery with a nice RBI double with the bat to help Team II get some runs on the board however it was never enough. Jack Hukin’s pitching for Team III was all but shut out standard for the rest of the game and Team II never managed to close that early lead. ⠀ |
