P M. Hussain , C , 1B , 2B , 3B , SS , LF , CF , RF Game Summary -
Team IV took to the diamond in Hull with over half the team making their debuts against another club. The Bladerunners got of to a nervy start giving up an inside the park home run on the first batter. Some strong pitching from Majid Hussain kept the experienced Hull batters on their toes but it wasn‘t enough to stop some great at bats from the Hull players to help build on their lead. Late in the game the Bladerunners bat woke up and pulled a couple of runs back but ultimately it wasn‘t enough to get the win. |

Hull Scorpions 17 - 7 Sheffield Bladerunners IV Line-up -
P B. Matthews , C , 1B , 2B , 3B , SS , LF , CF , RF Game Summary -
The second game of the day saw the Bladerunners overcome the nerves of the first game and produce some productive at bats to get players on the bases. Unfortunately they couldn‘t quite take advantage of these baserunners and drive them home to put the runs on the board. Hull took a 6 run lead until the penultimate innings then the Bladerunners managed to drive in some runs to take the score to 9-7. With a rookie pitcher on the mound though it wasn‘t to be the Bladerunners day and despite the comeback they ran out of steam on the mound and the experienced hitting on Hull meant they put on another 6 runs to end the game. Over the course of the day there were some fantastic performances and plays by the Bladerunners players special mentions go to Ben Matthews for stepping up to start the second game on the mound and Chris Frost for taking on the relief pitcher roll in one of his first games for the club. |

Sheffield Bladerunners III 3 - 21 Sheffield Bladerunners IV Line-up -
P M. Hussain C , 1B , 2B , 3B , SS , LF , CF , RF Game Summary -
With a disappointing start to the season against the Hull Scorpions, Team IV could’ve easily found themselves flustered when taking to the field against Bladerunners III, instead taking advantage of the two week break to adapt their gameplay, and improve the way they flowed as a team. This was evident from the get go, with the first 3 batters making base through no fault of Bladerunners III’s starting pitcher Jack Huckin. As a ground ball made it’s way off Lewis Danby’s bat towards Jordan Wynn at third, an impressive throw to first controversially provided Team III with their first out of the inning. Once the confusion settled however, Team IV returned to form, keeping the bases stacked as Martin Hingley hit a 2 RBI to left field, totalling 6 runs for their first inning, before being retired by a caught flyball to Haydn Rowlands in left field.Things started to look wobbly for Team IV as they took to the field, with the first two batters making base on errors and solid running by the home team, a situation only made bleaker by a powerful line drive down left field by big hitter Asher Williams, bringing in 2 runs for Team III effortlessly. The batter however underestimated the outfield, with Mike Davis launching the ball back into third and cutting him off for a second out, the last being swiftly followed by Majid Hussain’s ever-impressive pitching to end the inning in Team IV’s favour. The second inning only hurt more for the home team, with Team IV gaining an extra 3 runs to their 1, and with the starting pitcher’s arm tiring, decided to use the game time to instead provide rookie pitcher Haydn with valuable game time for the third inning, bringing a whole new pace to the game, with the accuracy following shortly after, giving insight to what others could face later on in the year. With Team IV taking the lead 21 runs to 3 going into the bottom of the third, there was little Bladerunners III could do, and with a stunning throw from centre field to home, cutting off an impressive sprint from second by Alan Bowers, John Briscoe made it even clearer Team IV were there for more than just a good time. With an impressive performance by both teams, Team IV claimed the win with the help of a no walk game by pitcher Maj, finishing with 21 runs to 3. |

P N. Wills, C , 1B , 2B , 3B , SS , LF , CF , RF Game Summary -
With game 1 in the bag, Team IV took to the diamond eager for a second win. A strikeout from the gate by Asher Williams made Team IV wary of the rookie pitcher, but bit back with a streak of solid batting bringing the run total up to 12, each batter facing the mound twice before Alan Bowers took to the mound. Lee Tucker made his way to the plate with a broken hand, not letting this affect his usual performance, he was struck out instantly to end Team IV’s spree. With a comfortable lead, Team IV appeared to have no worries out in the field, with a flyball out to the centre, Adam Walker lived up to his name and casually strolled inwards, watching the ball into his glove with complete composure. With few bases taken, Team IV forfeited 0 runs to end the inning. The following innings only increased the lead for Team IV. With another barrage of well hit balls, and batters consistently making bases, plenty of runs were gained. Helped by an impressive pitching performance by Nick Wills throughout the game, and a naughty throw from home to second by catcher Sean Briscoe, preventing a stolen base during the second inning, the game was over, with a second win for Team IV, 18 to 6. |

Halton Trojans 7 - 9 Sheffield Bladerunners IV Line-up -
C M. Hingley, CP N. Wills, SS L. Danby, 1B S. Walker, LF L. Tucker, CF A. Walker, 3B M. Hussain, RF W. Clarke, 2B B. Matthews Game Summary -
Team IV entered the first inning against Halton with nothing but confidence, but after ending the first inning 1 - 1, began to question if it was misplaced. Going into the second inning however things turned, with 11 at bats, and strong running from the team, another 4 runs were scored to bring their total to 5. Halton bit back in the third inning, batting in a further 3 runs to Team IV’s 1, despite the team making minimal errors. With Team IV gaining an extra 3 runs in the top of the fourth, and 2 out the gate strikeouts from Nick Wills, the game looked to be in their hands. However this only seemed to motivate Halton, with them batting in 3 runs in a row, whilst keeping another 2 runners on bases. Team IV kept their cool, and managed to take the W by what felt like a hair |

Following the close shave coming out of game one, Team IV expected another challenging game, but with what seemed like a tiring pitcher from the get go, Halton subsided 10 runs, 7 of which being walked around. Halton only gained 3 runs to end the inning. The second inning seemed to increase in pace, with the Team IV being unable to bring home any further runs, but with solid pitching from Majid Hussain, and flawless teamwork from the infield, 3 outs came from 3 at bats. Team IV only improved from this point, bringing home a second win of the day 19 - 3. |
